# Complete a research request

> A practical walkthrough from real estate research brief to mapped results

# Research a set of candidate sites

This tutorial uses a site-selection request, but the workflow is the same for market research, ordinance questions, owner research, portfolio analysis, and property diligence.

## 1. Create the request

Open **Research requests**, choose **Create research request**, and enter a brief:

Florida that may support a neighborhood commercial development. Compare
acreage, land use, assessed value, access, flood exposure, and nearby growth.
Return a ranked table, an interactive map, and a short explanation of the top
five. Preserve missing values and identify any criteria the available data
cannot verify.

## 2. Add context

Attach any investment brief, site criteria spreadsheet, or prior market report. Add public URLs when you want Ploti to inspect a specific planning, ordinance, utility, or market source.

## 3. Review data readiness

After submission, Ploti checks the workspace datasets. Review:

* Datasets already available
* Why each dataset is relevant
* Missing attributes or coverage
* Any clarifying question from Ploti

If important data is missing, request it. You can also start an interim run with the available evidence.

## 4. Let the research run

Start the research. You can close the page; the run continues on Ploti's servers. Return from **Research requests** or use the completion email.

## 5. Review the result

Read the completion summary and open the artifacts. A typical site-selection run may include:

* A checkpoint containing the shortlisted parcels
* A comparison table
* A map layer and legend
* A memo describing methodology, rankings, and caveats
* Saved queries or files used in the analysis

## 6. Open the map

Open the checkpoint or mapped artifact. Inspect individual candidates, toggle supporting layers, compare the result with other workspace data, and use the research chat for follow-up questions.

## 7. Organize the shortlist

Create records for candidates that need manual review. Add them to a project, assign owners, and save a view such as “Winter Garden candidates awaiting access review.”
