# Map and export records

# Move between records, maps, and files

## View records on the map

From a record list or saved view, choose **View on map**. Ploti opens the same record set as a map layer while preserving the record-view context.

Use the map to inspect spatial patterns, compare records with research layers, open related parcels, and continue analysis in chat.

## Export records

Choose **Export** to enter selection mode, select the records you need, and start an export. The export uses the selected record type and available fields; visible columns and the originating view help define a clear working context.

For a research-generated table or checkpoint, export from that artifact instead when you need the exact rows produced by the research rather than the current record list.

## Keep provenance clear

An exported file is a point-in-time copy. For collaborative work, also share the Ploti request, artifact, or saved view so recipients can inspect current data, sources, and caveats.
